Purchasing a new home can be very exciting. It can also be a little overwhelming especially if it is your first home purchase. Once your paper work is signed and the keys are now yours, it is time to move in. This is a lot easier said than done.
Although this may sound simple depending on the condition of your purchase, you may have to do some cleaning and repairs before you start filling up your new closets. Prior to the actual move consider doing a run through of the home. Check out the areas that need the most attention in terms of cleaning or minor repairs.
At this stage consider arming yourself with cleaning supplies. Bring along your Dyson upright vacuum cleaner in order to freshen up any carpeted areas of your home. Your bathroom and kitchen cleaning supplies are most likely warranted as well.
If you encounter more serious dirt around your home the possibility of using a vacuum wet dry may come in handy. This kind of vacuum is capable of cleaning up areas your normal vacuum can not, such as tile floors.
Once you have cleaned out your home and are ready to move in all of your items, you may categorize the boxes that hold your possessions beforehand. For instance, when you pack away your kid’s clothing and bedding, label the box you pack these items in ‘kid’s room’. This will give you an idea of where to put it in once it arrives at its final destination, i.e. your new home.
After you have unpacked your furniture you can move in the boxes accordingly. Placing each box in its appropriate area of the home will make it easier to unpack. Working your way one box at time and one room at a time will have you finished quickly and efficiently. Organization and efficiency can save you the hassle of dealing with the chaos that can entail the moving process.
The weather may also play a part in your move day. You want to be prepared, especially if your utilities are not up and functioning yet. Winter can be a harsh time to move in, but obtaining a portable space heater can help you through this process if needed.
