Direct TV Deals Compared to Cable

We have been wanting to get rid of Comcast digital cable for quite a while. The problem is they give you a great combo with their packages that include telepone, high speed internet, and TV service. When you want to remove one, you lose the savings of the bundle.

But the cable television service just has to go, as the channel selection and quality is below average. With so much discussion today about hi def, there isn’t much choice with Charter cable TV. So I started doing a little research on who else was providing service in my neck of the woods.

I happen to be one of the individuals who have a few choices. Unlike a few folks who can only select from just the cable company or Direct TV satellite service, I have a third option in this region. The old telephone company in this area has been altering the telephone network. So I have an additional consideration with U-verse from AT&T.

That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have similar issues. It would put someone in the same situation as with the cable television company, because telephone guys want customers to bundle their television service with high speed and voice service. If the deal works out well, I’ll be satisfied. Then again if the service is poor you are in the same circumstance that we all hate, being stuck with cable TV that isn’t all that great.

Some evaluations I found on the internet are pretty good on telecom TV service. Because it is brand new, there is sometimes a learning curve with a service like this, and some clients share their poor reviews. Some of those reviews are the funny, because people decide to write a bad review on their horrible experience and post it on the web. Unhappy customers badmouth the company like it is some huge conspiracy to make the customer unhappy, like the corporation does not want our money!

Another option I am seriously considering is of course satellite television. Because we have four TV viewers in our home, we usually buy a high end TV package. The satellite companies seem to be pretty even, as the Directv Premier Package and the America’s Everything Pak by Dish Network are each about $110 a month. Yes that’s pretty pricey for pay television, but when you compare that to taking your family to supper and a movie, it really isn’t all that much. The good thing is that there are plenty of DirecTV pros and cons to help me decide which direction to take.
